Peter Bartok - CTO & Chief Architect
As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Architect, Bartok is responsible for driving the company’s technology strategy and product architecture, working closely with product management and engineering. Bartok, previously Vice President of Development & Chief Architect at Venafi, also focuses on technology standards, high–end/complex pre sales–deployment and solutions support, as well as concept and innovation prototyping. Bartok is actively involved in standards bodies on behalf of Venafi, and is a voting member of the Oasis Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) technical committee.
Bartok brings more than 17 years of award-winning enterprise software engineering experience to Venafi. Prior to joining Venafi, Bartok was the Lead UI Architect for the Mono open source project. Prior to his work on the Mono team, Bartok served as Chief Architect for both the Secure Identity Management (SIM) and Collaboration Services at Novell. While leading SIM, Bartok in part unified the underlying security model of five disparate SIM product areas through a centralized auditing system. Earlier, Bartok spearheaded the technology strategy responsible for establishing Novell as a leading vendor of open standards collaboration services. This resulted in Novell standards–based messaging/calendaring systems leading the higher education market adoption rate in 2001 and 2002.
Bartok began his career at Siemens-Nixdorf AG in Augsburg, Germany. Bartok holds two US patents and has a third pending.
