First-to-market AI innovation and Machine Identity Management Development Fund secure Venafi’s spot on the fourth annual list
SALT LAKE CITY – December 5, 2023 – Venafi, the inventor of machine identity management, has been named to the Inc. 2023 Best in Business list in the Security category. Inc.’s Best in Business Awards honor companies that have made an extraordinary impact in their fields and on society.
Venafi achieved two major milestones as a company this past year, which helped garner its spot on the Inc. Best in Business list. Through its Machine Identity Management Development Fund, Venafi funds innovative machine identity management projects from startups, open source developers and some of the most prestigious universities in the world to help develop the next generation of creative thinkers who are changing the industry and open source community. The company has sponsored more than 50 developers since the start of the $12.5 million no-equity fund. Venafi also launched a first-to-market AI cloud service called Venafi Athena, expanding its commitment to the open source community with experimental new capabilities and data made available as open source through Venafi Athena for Community on Hugging Face.
“We’re proud to be recognized on Inc.’s Best in Business list alongside other impressive companies and initiatives,” said Kevin Bocek, VP of ecosystem and community at Venafi. “The Venafi team is committed to cybersecurity innovation and the open source community with our new open source AI capabilities and growing no-equity Development Fund. Venafi’s industry leadership continues to pave the way to future-proof our customers’ success and expand the machine identity ecosystem.”
Eric Hagerman, Special Projects Editor at Inc., says, “Being named to the Best in Business list is a rare and special honor. These honorees demonstrate the foresight, caring, and dedication to prioritize positive impact—impact on their community, on their industry and the environment, and even on society as a whole.”
Rather than relying on quantitative criteria tied to sales or funding, Inc.’s editors reviewed the companies’ achievements over the past year and noted how they made a positive difference in the world. They then selected honorees in 70 different categories – from advertising to sustainability to retail, and more – and in age-based, revenue-based, size-based, and impact-based categories. The applicant pool was extremely competitive – a huge success for the 215 honored in the list’s fourth year. Honorees for general excellence across various industries and categories are featured online at inc.com/best-in-business.
